Gymnastics has long relied on the expert human eye to evaluate performance, but today we are witnessing a radical transformation. Artificial Intelligence is no longer a distant technology; it has become the "Digital Coach" and the "Strict Judge" that ensures both fairness and precision.
1. Real-time Biomechanical Analysis
Thanks to Computer Vision technologies, systems can now track an athlete’s body path and analyze angles, speed, and take-off power in fractions of a second. This assists coaches in:
Detecting subtle errors that the naked eye might miss.
Identifying specific technical faults in performance.
Reducing injury risks by monitoring the balance of loads on joints.
2. AI-Judging System
Several international championships have already begun testing "AI-assisted judging" systems. These systems perform the following:
Comparing the executed movement against the ideal model programmed in the Code of Points.
Calculating Difficulty scores (D-Score) with extreme accuracy based on rotation and twist angles.
Reducing judging controversies and ensuring fair results for all athletes.
3. Personalized Training Programs
By analyzing an athlete’s historical data, AI can suggest specific exercises to strengthen the muscles required to master a particular skill—such as the "Mushroom" for men or the "Split" for women.
